Oftentimes, when we are walking through a valley season and NOTHING seems to be going our way, it can ‘look’ like God has abandoned us.
I remember times when I was doing everything the way ‘I thought’ the Lord wanted me to do it. I was walking by faith, doing crazy things like buying a wedding dress, when there was no date booked and my fiancé at the time had colder feet than a penguin…I was abstaining from all appearances of evil, surrendering my will for the will of God, yet still my life came crashing down around me in a horrible, painful and devastating mess. I often found myself asking: Why Lord? None of this makes sense. I’m doing everything You’ve instructed and still nothing is going my way. In fact things appear to have gotten worse.
LIES.
When I look back, I can see The Lord’s loving hand upon the broken pieces of my heart. He had to break me down and take away everything I thought I wanted in order to show me that HE is all I will ever need.
What has made me see all of this with such clarity at last is scripture. Reading the Holy word of God is opening my eyes to so many rich and wonderful truths.
Since the beginning of the New Year I’ve felt compelled to read The Bible from Genesis through to Revelation. The Lord has really imparted within me a desire for His word. I can’t get enough. I’ve tried to read The Bible from start to finish before and I could never seem to do it. I got very easily distracted and nothing made sense. My heart just wasn’t in it. Now it’s different, every verse and chapter speaks to me as my Lord reveals Himself to my spirit in deeper and more profound ways. He is so powerful. So sovereign. Hallelujah!!
Even though I’m still only on Exodus chapter 6, I’m drinking it all in and I find myself feeling at such peace when I read about what great people of God have been through and how The Lord in all His glory delivered them from lives of bondage and hopelessness…Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, the children of Israel. My goodness how faithful is our God? Hallelujah!!
The Lord is indeed in control of ALL THINGS and with this knowledge I feel more confident about who I am in Him and why He has allowed certain catastrophes to happen in my life. So that His name and His name alone will be glorified when help comes!! Praise Him.
I’m telling you beloved friend, whatever it is you may be going through hang on in there and cling to God. He will never leave you nor forsake you. His word is true. When you feel like He is not there, that is a lie. Our feelings are forever changing. One minute we are up, the next we are down. Cling to JESUS who is our bedrock. The same yesterday, today and forever. Times will get hard, but know that the trials come so that our faith will be strengthened and the power of our sovereign Lord can be demonstrated in our circumstances.
Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. We are more than conquerers and we have the victory through Christ Jesus our risen King. Don’t give up. He has not forgotten you. Keep pressing forward toward the mark and fighting the good fight of faith. Thank You Jesus!
‘And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.’
