I heard some sad news today.
The lady whose job I’ve been covering. The lady whose son I used to go to school with over 30 years ago, the lady I bumped into last year, for the first time in years and years, as she shopped with her small granddaughter. The lady who invited me to several of her son’s birthday parties when we were just little kids, and oh what fun we had….
….well today I learned that that beautiful lady passed away over the weekend. She had breast cancer which apparently she was given the all clear for, but then, from what I understand, it spread to her brain and now she is no longer with us.
I’ve been covering her job for just over six months and in that short time her life was taken. It’s difficult to fathom, how quickly things can happen sometimes. Heartbreaking, world altering, life changing things. My mind rests upon her husband, her son, her two daughters and her grandchildren…….
She was in her late fifties.
Life is just so inexplicably sad sometimes. Yes death comes to us all, but it doesn’t make the process any easier to deal with.
Although death is still a ‘concept’ for want of a better word, that continues to perturb me, as believers of Jesus Christ we can stand firm in the knowledge that our names are written in the lambs book of life as we strive to walk the narrow path to eternity.
My prayer is that we as the body of Christ will continue to intercede and boldly proclaim the saving grace of our Lord and King; Jesus Christ, within this lost and broken world. Life on this earth is so fleeting, yet so many of us fix our eyes upon earthly things when we should be casting our eyes heavenwards. Always heavenwards. Easier said than done I know.
Help us to see what You see Lord.
‘… For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.’
(James 4:14 KJV)
